Background

I'm Matthew Foster, a United States Marine Veteran, bringing the discipline and commitment instilled in me by the Marines to the world of fitness.

With over 13 years of experience in this dynamic industry, I have honed a philosophy that fitness should be accessible, effective, and most importantly, personalized.

At the heart of my professional life is Sculpt B'ham, a 24-hour fitness facility I proudly own with my wife, Destin Foster, in Birmingham, Alabama.

My journey in the Marines, coupled with my extensive experience in the fitness realm, forms the foundation of Matthew Foster Fitness. Here, every challenge is an opportunity for growth, and every client's success is a testament to what can be achieved with the right blend of discipline, guidance, and support.

“When relentless consistency meets intentionality, the result is remarkable potential.”

Sculpt B’ham

My wife and I started Sculpt B’ham in March of 2021. We operate Sculpt off of 3 main principles; Culture, Community and Consistency.

We saw a big void in the fitness space here in Birminhgham. It is common knowledge that gyms and training studios take a significant portion of personal trainers income. We wanted to change that.

“When we founded Sculpt, we set out to change the culture of the fitness space. We never expected Sculpt to grow into what it is today; a busy little gym with loyal, kind-hearted members and a haven for trainers who want to chase their passions.” - Matt and Destin

We run Sculpt with a “people over profit” mentality, knowing that a strong culture creates a community that is unmatched. We also believe that consistency compounds in all areas of life, and try to set an example to others to improve their life, one day at a time.

“You can go fast alone, but you can go further together.”

MARINE CORPS

My journey as a combat engineer in the United States Marine Corps from 2008 to 2012, including two combat tours in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011, has profoundly shaped both my personal and professional life. The skills and experiences gained during these pivotal years have seamlessly transitioned into my career in fitness. The discipline, resilience, and team-oriented mindset fostered in the Marines have been instrumental in shaping my approach to personal training and business management.

It was in the face of challenges and adversity that some of my most significant life lessons were learned, and where enduring relationships were forged. These relationships, born out of shared experiences and mutual support during difficult times, have not only enriched my life but have also provided a deep well of inspiration and strength that I draw upon daily in my work.

This period of my life, marked by both challenge and triumph, has instilled in me a unique perspective on overcoming obstacles, the importance of a supportive community, and the true value of hard work and dedication.
